W is for Women of the Bible

In 2016 I was part of a Bible Study. We learned about Women of the Bible and each made a quilt with blocks representing 40 women.  I pushed mine into an art quilt and didn't always follow the directions, but my friends kept me in the group and welcomed my creativity!

I won't bore you with 40 blocks, but will share a few of my favorites.

For Delilah I used a lock of my daughter's hair and an old pair of scissors I had kept from childhood:

Rachel and Leah features my Barbie Doll wedding dress from 50 years ago. My mom made the dress and accessories.

The Eve block is made from a hand towel a friend gave me.  It came from Germany.

One of my favorites is the Joanna block.  I like to think that she had her dog at her side as she followed Jesus,  and just what is in that picnic basket?

My husband likes Esther's block.  I think he likes the colors, although he is colorblind and I am not really sure what he sees!

Women of the Bible is currently hanging on the wall in our dining room.

  1. The hair was an awesome touch in the Delilah quilt block. (Jury's still out on the inclusion of actual scissors. If this is a display quilt, wouldn't the scissors cause a weight issue?)
