Pink / background

I do enjoy free motion quilting. It took a couple of mornings to complete the stitching. Next - finish the edge and then begin stitching the next layer down.

50/100

Half way! I decided to try using a color photo. Even with a coat of clear gesso, the texture was just weird to work on. Back to old black and white photos I go. They just work better.

42/100

Light bulb moment! Paint the photo and scratch in while the paint is still wet. I don't have any open paint,  so the work has to be fast. Super fast...

Pink

 Where i am now:

It's time to get serious about placement and work on the background fabric to prepare for permanent stitching.  The background needs much stability to attach the shards.

38, 39, 40, 41 "Discharge"

Removal of paint with a rolled up strip of fabric. This process has promise.

36 & 37/100

Another fail. I grabbed a silkscreen and attempted some prints. I think my paint was just too thick. The first one was yarn placed under the screen, the second was trimmings from a papyrus plant (that I have successfully overwintered!)

Instead of struggling with too small photos, tape a few together to create a more manageable surface. Or... "create a quilt block". Now that's thinking!

34/100

1/3 done. Not enjoying the assignment.  I really thought that by now I would be working on sunprinting - but, alas - the rain and clouds are not helping. I feel like I am not growing. Just creating the same stuff, over and over.

Rubbings on fabric (or lightweight paper), can create wonderful texture. Not so good on old, stiff photographs. How about a rubbing on tissue paper and then adhere to the photo? Not amazing. My mistake was using gelatos and not letting them dry before gluing down. Impatient.  Yep - that's me!

32 / 100

I've struggled with the curling of photos after they are set. It occurred to me that I could work directly in the photo album that a friend gave me with pics from the '30s.  Neatly organized and ready for me to remove when I need one for collage work!

 Simple stamping with a cork

In 2019, I traveled to Portugal with a friend. One of the amazing things we did was to visit a cork farm.

30/100

I like mixing my own colors instead of using straight from the tube. In the past few years, I've worked more with dyes than paint. With 100 days of printing, I'm certainly using more paint than I have in a long long time. Many tubes are actually dried up. I also find that my colors are very limited. I decided that I wanted a nice teal for printing and played with mixing my own. The color is ok. I'll keep trying.
