Hexi love

I'm not sure why, but I feel the desire to jump into a hexi project.  I was even thinking about 100 days (or more).  I like how the blocks fit together, they are easy to create and allow for hand stitching and beadwork.  Maybe this is the start of the mosaic project I want to work on!

Gelli print / lace

I have been participating in the month long gelli plate challenge hosted by Birgit Koopsen on IG.  What a fun daily challenge!  The challenge for yesterday was "lace".

For the most part, the daily prompts are things available around the house.  I did struggle with the prompt for today, "comb".  Sounds crazy - but I don't have a comb!  I do use a detangler in the shower, once in a while, but didn't want to sacrifice it to art.  What looks like a comb?  A fork, right?

Wanderlust 2022: Week 17 - Tammy Garcia

This week's Wanderlust was especially fun to work on.  Easy, on hand materials, and lots of room for personally creativity.  I didn't try to reinvent the wheel on this lesson - just enjoyed the process.  I can see that her method is one I will use again and again, (maybe with dyes next time!)

Sunflower 2

Continuing to be sunflower inspired.  Can I extract a bit of dye from the flower heads?  Soaking and simmering now.  I do like the colour palette:

Sunflower

Inspired by a vase of flowers on the table at my book signing event at Cordova Library last week.  I will be teaching a workshop in July on using thickened dyes to create a "painting" and have begun the process of samples for the students to view. Unfortunately,  with kids, it seems that copying is often the case.  We'll see...

Love the intensity of the colours before washing

After washing and drying

Beginning to add mulberry bark and stitch.
