Day 7/100 Diad with yellow

 My colour theme for today is diad (or diadic) with yellow and green.  This theme is two colours separated by one on the colour wheel. 

Days 4, 5 and 6

 100 days of colour.  6 done. 94 to go.  It's easy to do now with cold weather keeping me inside.  What happens when it is suddenly warm?  

Analogous theme with yellow/yellow orange/ yellow green

Triadic theme with yellow, red and blue. 

Tetradic theme with yellow/orange/purple/blue

Yellow: Complementary

 Yellow and purple, opposite on the colour wheel.  I don't like this combo.   At least not in this pure state, way too harsh for my eye. 

A few years ago I put together a quilt using this colour scheme, but on a softer level:

I won't dismiss using yellow and purple for now.  I don't have much purple in my stash compared to the yellows I have hoarded away.  Even my yellow bead box is filled to the brim.  I'll continue to explore yellow, but for now I'm happy with using it alone.

Yellow: Monochromatic

 I began my colour journey with yellow, as it is probably my favorite to work with.  Blue is up there pretty close, but nothing beats a nice cheerful and happy yellow.

 And it begins... 

Yellow is a favorite of mine.  I like the bright cheeriness that glows from this beautiful color.  

Yellow symbolizes: happiness, optimism, energy, joy and creativity.  It also symbolizes cowardice, anxiety and jealousy. But, we won't go there!

Vincent VanGogh summed it up for me,  "How lovely yellow is! It stands for the sun"

#100 Days of Stitching - Finished

Finished it this morning.  Ahead of schedule...

#100 Days of Stitching

Last year I participated in #100daysof stitching.  It was a fun challenge and I finished all 100 butterflies that I set out to stitch!  This year I'm challenging myself in a new way.  I am doing a study of Paul Klee's 'Castle and Sun' in dyed fibers using a mending technique for the stitching.  As the challenge just began yesterday, I don't have much to show...

After printing the image, I used tracing paper to create my pattern:

Enlarged the pattern a bit:

Over dyed some fibers that I knew I would not use 'as is'.  Really should have taken a before picture, but got too excited and dumped them into the dye before thinking!

Next step - transfer the pattern to fabric and begin stitching! 

A few more butterflies...

I'm enjoying this group of butterflies. 

The flowers were cut from an old hankie from my stash.

Fabric is part of my grey dye experiments before teaching a class later this month.

Maybe add some beads when I have time?

A few beads sure helped this little guy. He needed some bling.

The fuchsia medallion is from some ugly gingham that was over dyed.   

Left hand corner...  indigo pounding has begun.  So nice to have healthy looking plants in the garden.  It won't be long and the plants will be in the dye pot!

Mend March was so much fun. It was nice to prove to myself that I could do something for 31 days and actually keep up with it.  Now onto a longer challenge - The 100 Day Project.  I signed up.

My project will be 100 days of butterflies.  The start date was April 2nd.  So far, I am keeping up!
