A to Z - D is for Dark Chocolate. Yum..

D is for Dark Chocolate.  A colour as well as a delicious treat!

(The background is a cookie sheet... Now who gave me that idea!?!)

Where do you find the best hot fudge sundae in the world?

Need a clue?

If you said San Francisco, you are correct!  Back in 2010, my sister and I stood in line for 30 minutes just to get into the Ghirardelli Ice Cream shop.  It was worth it....

I also adore chocolate from Iceland.  So nice when my airplane goes thru Reykjavik on the way to adventure!

A to Z / C is for Cream

CREAM - a food and a colour...

It's funny how many different shades of white have turned up over the years.  I worked mixing paint at the local hardware store one summer and was amazed at how people agonized over picking just the perfect shade.  Personally, I prefer colour in my house.  No white walls. No cream walls.

A to Z / B is for Blueberry

B is for Blueberry.  I have 2 blueberry stories.  The first is from a very long time ago.  I took my younger sister to see Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, (the Gene Wilder version).  I was home from college, so she was probably 7 or 8 years old (I am 11 years older than Dee).  During the scene when Violet Beauregarde was turning into a blueberry my sister started crying. The idea of someone inflating was just too much for her.  We have laughed over that for many years.

I remember when I was young that my mom would make cheesecake as a special treat when she had friends over.  I really didn't like blueberries very much and would be basically horrified when she would put blueberry topping on the cheesecake instead of cherries.  I just couldn't eat it.  Sometimes I think she used blueberries so I wouldn't eat it and she would get the leftovers all to herself!  Now, I love blueberries, but no longer eat cheesecake (thank you very much heart doctor for taking me off dairy products).

A-Z / A is for Avocado, Aubergine and Apricot!

Day 1 = A is for Avocado, Aubergine, and Apricot.  (I couldn't pick just one.)  After a trip to England, Arrianne (daughter) and I both dropped the word 'eggplant' from our vocab.  Aubergine sounds so much more European...but I do not really like purple.  Avocado reminds me of the '70's and those awful kitchen appliances.  For a long time I wanted nothing to do with that colour!  Apricot is a lovely colour, but for me it is just another shade of orange.  I basically used 3 colours that I don't really like.  What a way to start out the month!!!

Dallas Museum of Art / Yayoi Kusama

I returned home yesterday from a delightful trip to Dallas.  Dee (my sister) and I visited our cousin for a few days.  On one of the days, we took the train into the city and enjoyed the art museum.  I was so excited to find the Yayoi Kusama Pumpkins as one of the special exhibits, but my sister and cousin didn't share my enthusiasm and decided that I was absolutely crazy when I plunked down 14.00 (with my military discount!) apiece for tickets to a 45 second exhibit!  I think it was worth it:

This makes me crazy!

I used to blame kids for cutting into fabric or paper like this, but I have seen adults do it too!

Thread painting / butterfly

I'm continuing to work on thread painting.  Not sure if  'this is my thing', or not.  It's more creative than setting up my embroidery machine and following a pattern, but is very time consuming.  On the pro side of the argument, I am using tons of thread!
