#carvedecember - day 3

Someone who is participating in #carvedecember explained the trill of cutting this type of block as the same excitement as cutting paper snowflakes.  You don't know what you have until you start printing and playing with it.

I decided to starting printing each block with paint on papers from my stash.  Instead of using a brayer to apply the paint, I am using a sponge brush for a rustic messy look.  That's who I am!

Magazine inspired...

I picked up a magazine from the library exchange table and discovered art by Valerie Casado. I love the rustic ceramics created by this creative woman.

Inspired, I wanted to create something with supplies I had on hand.  A small package of paper clay left over from a project with my niece, a rolling pin, and an old doily did the trick!  Oh, the possibilities...

Travel food - healthy and my sins

I am usually a very healthy eater.  Not vegan, but practice eating a plant based diet.  For the most part, no meat.  Some chicken but my first choice is fish and sea food.  For Thanksgiving my dear brother fixed snails for me!  I have a weakness for sushi and could probably live on raw tuna for the rest of my days.  Very little dairy in my diet, but cheese and yumminess finds a way to my plate now and then.  As the saying goes... when in Rome...  Well - when I travel, I must try out the local foods!

#CarveDecember Day 2

Today's rubber stamp was inspired by a tapestry I saw in the cathedral museum in Evora, Portugal.

Lisbon: Graffiti

Graffiti - Art or vandalism?  My thoughts....  When graffiti is destructive on statues or well kept buildings, it is vandalism.  Where does one draw the line?  No pun intended...  I look for creative graffiti in my travels and usually find work that makes me pull out my camera.

#CarveDecember - day 1

I've participated in carve December for at least 2 years, maybe 3.  I did well with the 100 Day Project and 80 Days around the world project (the 80 days will be up next Sunday).  A 31 day challenge seems so easy!  With a holiday trip being planned, I may only get 16 days in.  Carving stamps is easy, quick and fun.  I don't have a theme this time, but after a trip to Portugal with incredible tile inspiration, I'm thinking a series of stamps with a Portugal theme.

Friday - Do Your Own Thing

Somehow I didn't publish this... I see that I am not achieving my goal of blogging a few times a week.  How nice that the year is almost over and I can begin a whole new set of goals that don't get done!!!

Once a month our library schedules a day to "Do Your Own Thing".  Sew, paint, stitch, talk...  What ever you want to work on for the day.  It is also a potluck, so we all enjoy eating and catching up with friends.

I took blocks that I sewed last year to lay out as one of my quick get it done projects.  It took much longer to design something I was happy with than I ever expected, but with a lot of friend help, it is ready to sew together.  It will be nice to have it moved to the, "waiting to be quilted" pile...
