N is for Nature

This weekend I spent time hanging prayer flags, bird houses, and bird swings that I had made during the winter months.  It was so delightful to walk thru the woods after sunrise service at church and enjoy the beauty God has shared with us.  I wish I could post the wonderful smells, the songs of the birds, and the feel of the soft dirt under my feet.

M is for ME!

Today is the letter M.  Me is for Me!  Let me share some pics...

It's funny when I look at old pictures with my mom... She will say things like, "that's the picture with the aqua dress".  I always say, "no, it's the grey dress"...  Haha!  I am one year old in this picture.

Mom calls this one, "Grant's Special".  It was taken at Grant's store.  I don't this they even exist any more.  She always said that the photographer and I had alot of fun...

Paris... Monet's Waterlilies...  need I say any more?  Yes, I LOVE Paris.

My darling husband.  He is so good to me!

Today.  Yes the curls are really mine, (colour is "enhanced" - not ready to be grey yet).  I have 4 radiation treatments left.  Breast cancer....  Hope the rash leaves quickly.

K is for Kitty in the Garden

Kitty in the Garden is a collage of fabrics, doilies, and lace.  It was designed to somewhat hide the kitty, just as my Momma Kitty is almost invisible  out in the garden.

J is for Journal Scarf

In 2012, my son and I traveled to Ireland for 2 weeks.  What a fabulous place to visit!  As we traveled, I kept a book journal as well as a fabric journal.  The fabric became a scarf:

H is for Hexi Collage Quilt

Last fall I was asked to do a program for a local quilter's group.  We settled on scheduling it in February and I set off to create a fabulous new quilt and presentation.  I was intrigued by hexagons and the beautiful hexi quilts I had seen pop up on blogs and in quilt shows.  So with a theme, I was off and running.

It seemed like a good idea to play in paper first.  This piece is actually made from leaves and paper  using bee's wax as the glue:

It was followed by alot of hexi play dates:

After a few weeks of design and play, I jumped into making my Hexi Collage Quilt:

This is a full size quilt that used pieces of indigo dyed fabric that I picked up at quilt shows over the years.  The appliqued butterflies came from a shop in Copenhagen that I visited in the fall.  Fabric pieces also include old linens, an iced dyed table cloth, and a vest that was my fathers.
