Crazy woman

I haven't worked on my 2020 project for awhile.  With the heat and humidity driving me inside, it seems like a good time to pull this out of the closet and create a few little crazy women.

Crazy woman: island girl

Last of my crazy women that I worked on during my cruise:

What am I going to do with all these crazy women?  For starters, I think a second go round of embellishing!

Crazy woman in the rain forest

After visiting the rain forest in Panama, I knew I had to stitch a crazy woman to remember that special day.  We boated on Gatun Lake and saw monkeys, iguanas, numerous birds, and a sloth.

Crazy woman - Mermaid

Mermaid girl was stitched during our cruise to Panama.

The warm blue waters in the Bahamas would be a perfect place for me, if I was a mermaid...  Unfortunately, with my pale skin, I have to be very careful in the sun.

Crazy woman #24 - does she measure up?

The background fabric was a white on white with glitter!  It went into the dye pot long ago, but remained in my stash for too long!  Now, with the snow we've been enjoying, I wish I had more of the white fabric for some awesome snow dyeing...

Crazy woman #23

Not enough stitching and baubles, but she must join her friends "in the box"...  I think she needs to hold a little purse, and when I can find my stash of old Barbie dolls and clothing, I'm sure the perfect one is there!

I haven't felt very creative with my crazy woman project, but with an upcoming cruise in the Caribbean, I'm thinking 'island girls'!

Crazy woman in red

Red is not my favorite colour, but I think this crazy woman block is one of my favs!  I like the colour combination of turquoise (this block is actually more aqua) and red.  Was that a popular palette in the '60s?  I think I remember my mom doing her kitchen in red and turquoise... I'll have to ask her...

This little block used up the red lace in my stash!

Crazy Woman: Fall Attire

She reminds me of fall colours.  Maybe she needs a jacket with the cool weather we've had!

Crazy Woman in the purple skirt

The background began with one of Beth's stencils.  Thank you girl friend!

Crazy Women / Cat Woman

The cat is from fabric that I made Jes a shirt many years ago.  Many, many years ago!  He is nearing 27 years old and I think he was probably 2 years old when I quit sewing for him.  I'm so glad I hung onto some scraps and could smile remembering my little boy and his homemade clothes.

Crazy women / green butterfly

Yes, her wings need tons of beads!  Another good vacation/traveling project for February.

Crazy Women

I borrowed the stencil from my friend Beth.  She must have a zillion stencils! I've decided that this block will be a good one to take on my next vacation to do some major background filling and stitching to beautify her dress.  For now she will just sit and wait for February...
