#TUSAL
This is silly and for fun only - Totally Useless Stitch Along. Leave it to a girlfriend to encourage me to save my threads and little pieces of fabric for a month and take a picture! I guess the challenge is suppose to be just threads, but I can make my own rules! Right? The second part of the challenge is to post your picture on the new moon. Well, I forgot. Again - I can make my own rules.

Art on the Koningsdam
I was delighted to find tons of mixed media art on our cruise ship! This was by far my favorite grouping of pieces and I made sure to walk past it every day. The photos are not the best as the lighting made it difficult to take pics without glare.

Airport art
I was very impressed by art in the Atlanta airport - so nice to find culture while waiting for time to pass. This painting by Jean Volcy Philemon (1956-1999) called "The Big Cats" was especially bright and cheery to this weary traveler.

Home sweet home!
We had a wonderful trip to the Caribbean, returning home at midnight last night. I brought home lots of ideas, many photographs, and great memories of days spent in the warm sunshine. I worked on stitching in the evenings and found time to journal each day. Wifi was difficult to find, but after a few days I decided it really didn't matter. The peace and quiet was a welcome part of time away.
It is good to be home.

Travel time
Jon and I leave today for a cruise in the Caribbean. I won't have internet much during the trip. Maybe a little time away from technology is a good thing. I packed art supplies to keep me doing my passion each day, as my fair skin won't allow me to be in the water and sun as long my husband. He will swim and I will be the one under the umbrella hiding from skin cancer. Be back in 2 weeks!

Things I've learned
I was thinking about what I've learned about stitching during the past year:
- It's important to have a mentor/teacher to challenge and encourage me
- I love the sound of thread pulling thru the fabric
- Beautiful threads make me happy
- Silk. What else can I say...
- The of running my fingers over an area filled with tiny seed beads is a delight
- I finally wore out needles while stitching thru rusted fabric. Needles really can become dull!
- Stitch at least 15 minutes a day. It adds up fast!
- Linen. Yes, I have a new love.
