I love the cold! It means my coat can come out and play!

Snow
My son asked for snow pictures. He lives in southern Illinois and they were not blessed with this beautiful snowfall.

Snow day = Dye!
15 inches of snow means a morning of dyeing!
For this piece I used Mustard and Sage dyes. The sage has been in my stash for years. The mustard, on the other hand, is one of my favorite colours and replaced at least once a year.
Chartreuse and Sage. I like the fabric, it is shiny and makes the colours seem brighter than my other samples. Old napkins are the best! They have been washed numerous times and the old Damask patterns are simply lovely.
I took a before pic of this old table runner. It was pretty as is, but I'm on a roll here! Must dye everything in sight...
And here's the lovely table runner after a snow bath of Aqua, Basic Brown, and Avocado. Won't it be fun to add stitch!
The dish towel used Aqua, Chartreuse, and Nickel. I way over did the Nickel. Not happy with with piece. The colours are actually rather dull. I just photographed a small section that looks nice.

art journal: house by the lake (romance)
This old couple lives in a charming old house by a lake in the woods. Inspiration for this spread came from the beautiful blue wrappers from a gift of delicious chocolates. (I was naughty and didn't share my treats). Chocolates are certainly romantic, in my book, and I believe the gentleman in the photo has enjoyed showering his woman with love, flowers and chocolates...

art journaling: amsterdam
a quote found in a magazine prompted this page.
"Who travels for love finds a thousand miles not longer than one"
"Who travels for love finds a thousand miles not longer than one"
Have you been to Amsterdam? It is an amazing city. The people are so friendly, it is easy to get around, and there is so much to do and see. The VanGogh Museum is incredible. I can't wait to go back again to Amsterdam for a much longer stay.

Art journaling
I've slipped away from working on art journal pages. Beth reminded me of this when we got together this past week. I've missed it. After having an incredibly nice day on Friday, I found myself doing the "happy dance". It seemed the perfect reason to begin weekly journal pages again.

Blue beginnings
I had a delightful time with girlfriends yesterday. It was way past time to get together for a morning of art. I worked with thickened dyes to begin a blue series:

Pink butterflies
I think this will be the end of pink for awhile. It's been fun, but time to move onto a different colour. I have a quilt in mind that will be a series of blue studies. I'll see what tomorrow brings...
