Garden 💗 - Akureyri, Iceland

I can't even pretend to pronounce, Lystigardur Akureyrar! Just know that it was beautiful!

The park was opened in the early 1900's and was the first public park in Iceland. Founded by several housewives. Their mission was to beautify the town and provide entertainment for the public. What a challenge they had creating the garden with plants that would survive the Artic region!

Garden 💗 - Iceland

2024 - I took an amazing cruise with my niece. We began in Copenhagen, onto Norway, Iceland and Scotland. We stumbled on an interesting "garden" while walking along the coast in Reykjavik. It was the "Recycled House" and it was an artist's delight!

I had to include this special moment after we took our walk. We met up with a friend who was also in Iceland at the same time as us. She brought us fermented shark meat to try. Horrible, yucky, and will never eat it again - even if I am starving. Would rather eat bugs.

Garden 💗 - Kaisaniemi Botanic Garden / Helsinki Finland

In 2017, AJ (daughter) and I took a Baltic Sea cruise. While in Helsinki, we visited the quaint, but very lovely, botanic garden.

I don't think I was actually taking the pic of the flowers... rather the resting lady that seriously needed some visible mending or new socks.

Garden 💗 - Olbrich Botanical Gardens / Madison Wisconsin

My husband was still pretty mobile back in 2019, but thankfully this garden had a scooter for him to use. We had gone to Madison for the quilt show and spend a few days away from everything. Good trip!

Silly me! I purposely took this picture with the yellow arrow pointing the way to something, but I had to chuckle that it points to Jon! He had such a good time that day. It can be a struggle finding places that are really handicapped accessible. Signs may say they are, but sometimes he can get into a restroom but has to back out to leave. Doorways often have a bump that we struggle to get the wheelchair over. It's been an eye opener for me. We had no problems here!
