My pictures seem blurry to me. I guess that happens some days. Life is a little blurry sometimes, too. I continue doing some simple shibori dyeing to have plenty of samples to show for the January dye workshop at the library. This one is so easy. Wrap a pipe with a wide piece of fabric, scrunch it down, secure, and dye. I used jade as the base. After letting it sit awhile I lightly added some boysenberry with a paintbrush. Not a colour scheme I like, but wanted high impact to show the class.

Dyeing for peace of mind...
Life happens. My aunt passed this last week, and everything in my life was put on hold. Now it's time for some healing, so for me - off to making art.
Shibori circles were the answer this time.
Somewhere there is a photo of the fabric before adding a layer of ice and dye. Where is it? The dyes are jade, stormy grey, and boysenberry (procion mx from prochemical and dye)

I used flatten glass gemstones and rubber bands for a resist
Feeling stronger and ready to move forward with my life. Art really does heal.

sample bag #1
I've been stitching little pieces over my morning tea for some time now. Brainstorm! Make a collage bag with the stitched art! I covered a piece of fabric with my samples, added a layer of interfacing for strength, and lined the bag. The handles are a belt out of my "can't throw anything away" box. I am very pleased with the outcome and look forward to making more. It is very sturdy and shall get much use.

Mark making w/washers
This was a simple way to create a fun fabric! Washers layer on fabric, spray dyes, machine stitch and a bit of hand stitching.

circles
Slowly getting my dye experiments washed and ready for stitching and quilting. Yellow is such a happy colour - looking forward to using these fabrics in January when the grey days start to get to me down.

yoyo...
I have a yoyo quilt from the 1970's that has been sitting in a box for too long. It was begging to be cut apart and dyed. I am now addicted!

gelli plate trees
I'm working on plans for a dye workshop for January. These simple trees started as thickened dye painted on a gelli plate. After printing I added some background colour with more thickened dyes and a paint brush. Final step... add threads.

A sweet dear friend of my moms is turning 85 this week. Her sisters have planned a card shower. I worked on mine this morning:

Leaf bundles / red maples
Very happy with the bundles I boiled up yesterday. I want to do more, but with steaming instead of boiling. I think the lines will be crisper.
