White Pine

Until the sun hit the tree just right, I had no idea there were so many pine cones in this tree!

Indigo in my garden

This is my third year to grow indigo in my garden.  I am currently soaking and fermenting a batch to dye some fabric.  I've read tons on processing, but am convinced that I am just brewing up a giant mess.

Jes's Quilt

On Saturday my mom worked with me and we pieced blocks for a quilt for Jes.  It started a few months ago as a quilt for one of his friends, but things changed and it will be finished for my son instead.

I started with a design to incorporate 49er's colors as requested by his friends.  The colors are also the German flag color.  Jes is in Germany in the military so the quilt is (in my mind) his "souvenir" of his 3 years spent there.  The design idea came from a German aircraft insignia from 1918.  Jes works aviation maintenance.  So much symbolism!

I think it needs a strip between the blocks.  As I have a yard of red, it will probably be red. Next sewing day at church is in 2 weeks, so I have time to decide.

This little lady needs more added to her block, I just don't know what to do.  The flowers on the tree need some help, her dress could use some buttons and the green "garden" at the bottom needs flowers.  For now, she rests.

Little painted houses

It is so fun to paint these little houses.  I'd rather stay home and  do this all day instead of going to work!
